Yes we were well aware of the Sensor Problem prior to the Last UPDATE that fixed it,
This is why we did not Release the Rescue Jackets until the Sensors were fixed.

He had no control after he pulled up out of the water and was doomed. lol

He also made a fatal mistake by pulling the Floats forward that did not help him in the least.

Once the Mini 2 got the Update we were good to go: Our design so much more stream lined and the center of gravity so much better for negotiating the water.

A lot of thinking after watching these two videos...
The wet suits and rescue jackets provide a lot of safety and the video shows that.
Do the rescue jackets act also as wet suits too?
Also I wander about the ways water get through the drone and what parts could be still usable or spare parts for the same kind of models. I guess they are like smart phones...
I sent my drone through light rain or fog even I wasn't sure about it but it seems the drone is still fine. It is interesting when they say if your drone gets wet place it (cover?) in rice. I will keep this in mind ?

The Wet Suits Primary purpose is to protect the Mini 2 open ports and to protect the sensors .
The Rescue jacket primary purpose is to fly with something extremely light but can keep your Mini 2 afloat in the water .

Because the Rescue Jackets for the Mavic are so stable we have been able to Remote land and take off on the choppy waters . The idea is that you can conserve Battery power while you wait for the next Ocra / Whale / Glacier show event to take place and record. ;)

The key to recognizing that this was the Old Update was the first sign that he was not able to take off from landing on the water which is what happened with the old update: You can also see the drone start to drift sideways coming out of the water do a Calibration and IFR problem which again the new Update Solved on the Mini 2.

That update for the Mini 2 solved all kinds of issue we were having with the Mini 2 :

Had to laugh as soon as I saw the floats. Identical to ones that I bought a year ago and warned about. No happy endings with these. Mini 1's hate flying low over water, preferring to fly into it instead. Well discussed problem that includes snow, sand or any 1 color surface not recognized by the sensor. Often reducing height without input. Splat (or splash). Not familiar with m2 changes regarding this but hope it's fixed.

I too have seen both videos. The second one for the second time now.
I want to tell you that I think you did an excellent job on the narrative and pre-dispelling most criticism that might have come your way by pointing out mistakes and also jovially poking fun at yourself. It is too bad more people don't feel that way and have a better attitude like that. I really think that the device in the second video would have flipped if it hit the water at that angle also. I have the noodles for my M2Pro. I originally thought them a good idea. I would rather get the device that pops off and pulls your drone to the surface for recovery. But after looking at some VERY cool underwater drones like the Chasing M2 and QYC Fifish with mechanical arms...I think I may have to get one of those so I can dive the wrecks that I can see from the air with my airborne drones. And, if anyone near me loses one in the water; I can possibly help them recover the (body).
Thanks for a great video.

Great video. Not often I'll sit through a 15+ minute without skipping but I did here. Loved the pre-emptive-strike Bambi comment ... classic. This whole thing is a perfect example of how things can go instantly wrong for anyone. This chap is clearly skilled, careful/analytical with common sense and not in any way reckless. And it happened. BTW the comment above from phantomrain about him pullling the floats forward ... wrong. Originally it was down at the rear so he had to move the CoG fwd which means moving the Mini fwd on the floats or the floats back on the Mini depending on your PoV. He originally expressed it wrong, instantly corrected, did it right but later on in the video (7:45) said he'd done it wrong again. He hadn't. he'd done it right resulting in the whole thing floating pretty level in the water.

That is total nonsense : My Rescue Jackets are designed when they sense danger to sprout Dragon wings and Propel straight up scorching the sky. :p

The Front of the Rescue Jackets only stick out about 1 inch compared to the 4 inches on the Noodle.
The Rescue Jackets are amazing in how well they Perform with there low Profile and weight.

He was doomed with the sensor problem and sliding the Noodles forward , I already knew what was going to happen the moment I saw him move the noodles forward,

Are there regs for the submarine drones? You might hit a diver or a ship. Do you need VLOS? Can you carry explosives? A mobile mine. Oh my gods, think of the damage. And what about swimmers at the beaches. Oh the humanity.

LOL...but the rescue jacket looks vastly superior. I think his angle and rate of descent (even though it was a short drop) may have flipped the drone anyway. Almost anything can be used improperly and like you said; he was doomed from the start. I noticed right after I got my M2Pro that as I was flying over water at a low altitude the drone seemed to get lower and when I glance down at the screen; it had, in fact, dropped by about 7 feet. Then I joined MavicPilots and read a few posts about how the sensors work. They should have a few dozen dos and dont's posted for newer fliers.
Also, on second thought, I may purchase a jacket for the slow flying over the wrecks. That would provide me a greater safety margin when mapping. One of the cool things about this hobby is how versatile the RCs are and how quickly they can be adapted. Thanks.

Still can't stop laughing while I am typing...THANK YOU!!
There are few; mostly for boats: Thinking I'll put velcro on the ROV AND my drone. Then I can fly it out a few miles and drop it off and plant a charge on a cruise ship. LOL. Or, maybe ......

True: How many posts have we seen where there was a crash because the new pilots relied on the sensors, quite a few but even more with relying on the Active Tracking; If you do decide to get a Rescue Jacket for the M2 email me [email protected] for the Forum Discount.
