Not sure if I should get the mavic air 2

I already have the platinum and spark. Is this worth it???
I would say do it. I have the Platinum and I bought the MA2 a month or so ago and would do it again in a heart beat. It's fun. Quality is good. Definitely a boost in range. Has it's place. I need to fly the MPP more but they both have their place. If DJI decides to release the Mini 2 as the drone only without the controller, I'll get it too.

it also depends what kind of problems you want to solve by having a 3rd drone.
Flight time? MA2 will give you 2mins more maybe
Weight ? MA2 overall with RC is just about as hefty as MPP + RC (you better check the actual weight in the specs).
Distance : MA2 will control all the way to 10km in ideal conditions and significantly less than 5km in usual, MPP maybe a bit less in non ideal and about the same in ideal conditions.

Picture quality : MA2 will be about 1 stop of light better. MA2 will be usable up to ISO800 if I am forced to do so, while I wouldn't go past ISO400 on MP1. Dynamic range is much better on MA2 as well. You do get a lot of fancy stuff like auto HDR and HDR video.

Camera : MP1 auto focus completely sucks especially at night, this is not really an issue with MA2 fixed focus.

Noise: MP1 with MPP Props are quite silent, MA2 is even more silent.

Speed : MA2 is slightly slower than MP1. I personally feel I like to fly the MP1 more than the MA2.

Subject tracking / Focus Track : I love this and hate it at the same time. It works well most of the time ie 95% but in the 5% of the time it does not work you have a 50% chance of crashing and breaking your expensive toy. So I've stopped using this feature.

One thing I severely miss in MP1 / MPP is the full unlocking firmware. It makes a big difference if you need to fly low and safe in NFZ, or above 500m from your takeoff point but significantly less than the terrain.

If you are choosing one over the other, by all means get the MA2, but if you are thinking of adding another drone to your stable, then it really depends on how much spare cash you have vs the utility of the above points.

I use the MA2 for smaller jobs in my biz. Camera and software are excellent in this size range. Good air time, solid in wind and dependable.

Wow. Thanks for the in-depth reply. Good info.

I forgot to mention one thing actually very important to me:

Litchi / Waypoints - There is no promise of this support as of today, but I dearly miss this feature and it is preventing me from doing a lot of stuff. I'm stupidly waiting for SDK release which may or may not add this feature back....

I previously posted two EMail from DJI's Mr. Wong at Development Center. One describing the that new MSDK Update for MA2 will enable DroneDeploy, Pix4D and Litchi. The other confirmed the release of MSDK in mid-December. Mr Wong also stated that then the three apps can get to work making themselves work on MA2. Apparently, it is not automatic.

I’d choose the M2P over the MA2, but I’m glad I have both. I like the Aperture control and larger sensor on the M2P, but the video image quality on the MA2 (D-cine like) was beyond my expectation. The FPV mode on the MA2 has a lot of potential, but needs more control over settings to be usable.

Please don’t fly in NFZs... nasty surprises lurk and manned aircraft are put in danger. Rest of the post is good info.

I agree, flying in in an active NFZ is not recommended at all. I've seen regularly helis flying under 100m for extended times.
