I tried to download and install the new Andriod update for the Dji-fly app earlier this week, it would download but not update the app. I have a Lenovo 4 850f Tablet which I have been using since the Mavic Mini came out quite successfully until now. I downloaded the latest version of the Fly-app Version 1.1.6 and installed it on my tablet, but when I tried to update the app it would not do so. after some investigation I discovered That in their wisdom DJI have decided not to support this Tablet any longer. So I would suggest before buying any new Andriod 64bit Tablet that is running a 64bit android system you make sure the Tablet will still be supported by DJI.

i am a bit confused you have posted this in the MA2 forum but you mentioned the MM do you have a MA2 as well
the other thing is you said you downloaded the app version 1.1.6 and installed it on your tablet well unless i have missed something the fly 1.1.6 is the latest fly app so it would not update if i have misunderstood your post then i apologise in advance

sorry I have been out for a while.
Yes, I do have the Mavic air 2 now I upgraded from the Mini about a month ago. The Mini flew well on the 1.1.5 app and so did the Air 2. but when the 1.1.6 version came out I tried to update the app on my Lenovo 4 850f Tablet which had been running the Dji-Fly app up till then, and as I say Although it would download on to the Tablet when I tried to install the new version it would go so far then stop and declare the update was not installed. No matter what I tried to do including removing the 1.1.5 version and doing a clean install with the 1.1.6 version, it would only go so far before telling me it could not install on my tablet as it no longer was supported, but it would let me reinstall the 1.1.5 version of the app. So I have a choice, I either stay with the 1.1.5 app and limit the capability of the Air 2 or I will have to find a Tablet that is supported by the new updated 1.1.6 app. very unfair I think of DJI of not pre-warning Andriod Tablet owners that some tablets would not be supported to continue flying their new Drones, It makes me wonder if as time goes by, only Apple Phones and Tablets will be supported in the future updates of this app

It's possible your 1.1.6 download file was corrupt. I don't see any reason why DJI would have dropped support for a tablet on a simple point update (1.1.5 to 1.1.6).

the only possible thing that would prevent the app from running the 1.1.6 up date would be if the processor in the device could not handle the extra requirements of the MA2 as it has a lot more features than the MM

Are you updating from the app store? I had to install the DJI Fly app via the DJI official download page (you can just download the .apk file here: DJI Fly- DJI Download Center- DJI ).
I would like it if that was true, but I downloaded the app from DJI's website and Googles store and tried sideloading the .apk ( as I have many times before and that worked for the DJI fly app 1.1.5 but none of them worked this time with the 1.1.6 version
My Tablet is a 64bit tablet with a 64bit 8.1 Android system on it and as I said in my previous report I have run the Mavic Air 2 on the Dji fly app 1.1.5 on this tablet for some time prior to downloading this update. This version of the app would not install the update it just kept reverting back to 1.1.5 version of the app.

look in the specs of the 1.1.6 app it should say minimum android system required to run the app it could just be a google thing for some reason

Perhaps "Old Man Mavic" you are right, Maybe the new 1.1.6 version of the Fly app does require a lot more from the CPU than earlier versions, maybe that is the reason. I hadn't thought of that, but if that is the case then more than likely there will be more Andriod Tablets out there that will begin to give up after being able to run the 1.1.5
My tablet display reported that DJI -fly no longer supported the Lenovo 4 850f

it is unfortunate i must admit ,and at the end of the day ,it just means extra cost to be able to fly the MA2 and if the fly app is going to be the standard from now on then as more models are added to the stable using the fly app then our present devices will start to struggle to run the fly APP as the drones become more advanced

"Old Man Mavic"Just out of curiosity what Tablet are you using to run the Dji fly app? Is it an Apple Machine.?
yes its a 6th gen 9.7 inch 2018 64 gig WIFI only ipad ,i use it for both my MPP and MM it is very good and the extra size is a boon for my old eyes

Yes, I think that's going to be the way ahead if I want to keep flying This amazing Drone. Just got to hope that there's not going to be too many obstacles in the future through legislation to spoil what we have got in owning these fantastic machines.
Nice to have had this discussion with you.
Good night.

There's a bunch of dependencies with your story of how you downloaded and attempted to install V 1.1.6, much of it doesn't add up. No, DJI didn't change anything from preventing this app from installing on your specific tablet model since it was working great before.

How did you download V 1.1.6 from DJI's website when the FULL apk was only made available only a few hours ago (August 08)? It was available on the Apple and Google app stores much sooner, but since your tablet is not on the official DJI approval list, you wouldn't be able to download it that way. The only possible way you could have downloaded it was from apkmirror, unless you pulled the apk unofficially from the Play store, but that would have only given you a specific variant which wouldn't work on the tablet anyways.

As mentioned, the apk's that was posted on apkmirror are only specific variants of the app (only 85MB on disk) and may not work with all Android devices, you will need DJI to post the full apk, which has now been done.

Since the full apk is now available from DJI's website, you can download it from there.
The link is still labelled as V 1.1.5, but the file server will offer you V 1.1.6 to download. It will be named 1597032400479-DJI-v1.1.6-200730-823-44394-official-sec.apk, file size is 244MB on disk.

You shouldn't have any problems installing it now, just sideload it and you'll be good to go.

Also, a new firmware is available as of yesterday, you might as well install that afterwards.

Good luck.

Thank you "Ace.7" I appreciate you taking the time to explain to me where I was going wrong in trying to download the update for the
DJI-Fly app version 1.1.6. With your help, I have at last managed to update the App. I have really been trying for a week to update it, in every way I could think of, and did go to Google Play, and as you say it wasn't there for my tablet. I was advised to try apkmirror, as I have often done before and downloaded the apk from there but although it said it had downloaded, it would not update the 1.1.5. version. I was getting very frustrated with it all. and was considering buying an Ipad. I do have an iPhone and have managed to install DJI Fly on that without any problem, but I have difficulty seeing the detail on the small screen.
Thank you again for your help, without this forum I would really struggle to get all the info I need to enjoy flying this fantastic Drone (Air 2)

I have the 12.9 second gen for my older eyes as well. Love the screen size and I and up paying more attention to all the other parameters showing on screen and learn quite a lot from watching those.

Glad to hear it worked out for you.

I didn't have to download or update anything to get the new version
Haven't flown for a couple of weeks
Turned everything on when i got to my chosen area to fly and noticed the battery icon had changed
Looked at the gimbal settings and everything was there
Made my chosen adjustments and off I went

Yes, that's because it updated automatically via the App/Play store.

Others must sideload the app because they're using devices that's not on the official approved list, which means it's not available for them via the App/Play store.
