I could swear in youtube videos I have seen people cancel auto landing over and over and get back at 0%. Today is the first time I pushed
it with the battery and was pretty surprised when it told me auto landing, period at 10% battery. I was pretty freaked because it was a mile away so maybe I missed something but I really wanted to cancel it and there was no option...lol
It actually picked a decent spot and it seems I almost clipped the powerlines getting it to the sidewalk because I was afraid for the props and didn't want to go in the muck. I have been flying over the ocean mostly before this so I am really glad I have seen this behavior now on land

Wow Jack, you did get lucky, those power lines were very close and it seems it was smart enough to miss them. Glad the bikers left the drone alone. :p

You can't cancel it, but just push the stick up to continue flying. All it does is put the "zero vertical speed" point at stick half up.
Thanks! Thinking back I believe I have read that before. I guess everyone needs to experience it once in real life to get over the initial shock.

Shocking how close to the edge of the sidewalk I actually got it. My first precision landing!! I didn;t actually think anyone would come along before I could get there...ha I am so glad it kept recording and didn't get run over...though that would have made a pretty cool video ending I suppose. :)

Yes this has caused many to land in the water , and its tricky if you dont react quickly the right way its going to land.

You need to cancel that at a certain height and keep the stick up as mentioned but we have found there is a point of no return where its just going to land.,

I cant tell you how many have landed in the water , including me as I was testing it out over the water cancelling over and over again until it just gave up and landed in the lake , but i had the Rescue jacket on and once it landed I waited and than restarted the drone on the water flew it back to me because it resets itself after landing if you have enough battery power left to take off.

So its not enough to Cancel it you have to keep the stick up.
One thing we did not try was to hitting the RTH to see if it would bypass that.

The three DJI quads I have (P3A, M2Z, MM1) won't start once it's landed after critical landing (about 10%). I wouldn't think DJI would have changed that with the MA2.

So I'm skeptical it critically landed in water, then a few minutes later could take off.

Billy Kyle flew past 0 for two minutes with his M2P before it completely quit. He flew too far out the Long Island Sound and ignored call for RTH. Sad, but informative video.

Wouldn’t have been cool if it had landed on top of one of those moving cars and not slide off would it. ?

There was no waiting a few minutes more like a few seconds. im not sure the motors actually shut down, but the landing reset the drone to take off again so you may be right about not taking off after the motors shut down.

I will test that out as I would like to confirm the limits of battery take off for remote landing as we do a lot of them.
Will keep you posted.

may i ask how the heck .you managed to be a mile away with 10% battery
not the best advert for safe drone flying ,if you carry on like that your drone will not last long
your very lucky the guy on the bike, didn't stop and either nick your drone, or damage it

I am incredibly happy it had 10% battery left for maneuvering during the landing. Good safety feature. I would not disable it if I could.

I was returning more with over 20% and it dropped really quickly to 10%. I should have realized it would go much quicker the more discharged the battery was! It won;t be happening again!

Whilst I would not recommend that keeping it in the air below 10% charge should be routine, be aware that position control seems to be 'wooly' when it wants to land and you are keeping it aloft so you need to be careful.

.......landed I waited and than restarted the drone on the water flew it b.......
I do not remember which drone or maybe all of mine, MM, M2P/Z, P3Adv, but there is definitely had a voltage threshold below which the motors would not restart if landed but below which it would continue to fly if aloft etc., it was from memory quite high.....maybe 15% to 20%. The instance that sticks in my mind caught me out but was of no consequence as I was hopping about in my garden. Whether a battery would recover enough if 'rested' to climb above the threshold and allow a restart I have not experimented with.

i have my first low battery warning set at 40%,and then decide what action i need to take to make it back home ,but most times i aim to be close to or landing when the warning goes off,its always best to have a reserve of charge ,in case you have to hover while some unexpected event prevents you from coming straight in to land
this can be the unexpected person with a dog, who would enjoy grabbing the drone as it lands or the sudden appearance of a horse rider having that battery gives you time

I had the dog one, a Spaniel I think, the beep beep wouldn't clear off and the owner's had no control. I ended having to do a snatch and twist 'landing' putting the drone behind my back. Aside from anything else the props would probably have made a mess of the dog's face or mouth

with me hand catching is not really an option ,as i take a anticoagulant on a daily basis for my heart condition ,and my blood does not clot as normal ,so any chance of getting cut is really a no, no ,i just cant take the risk, so i always land on the pad on the ground
i probably appear to many on this forum as a mister goody two shoes, who is always going on about safety and legal flying ,but my motivation for such posts,is to give advice to help people have a good experience when they fly ,and keep their drone in one piece

And how do you go about setting a low battery warning? I have a MA2

dont have a MA2 so i am not best placed to answer you question ,but with my MPP it can be set within the APP ,it seems that with the advent of the new fly APP ,many of the settings that were available in the GO4 app seem to have been omitted ,but if you look in the manual then maybe it will tell you if you can set it
