Today i ordered mavic air 2 fly more combo. I have question if someone experience bloating or swolling problems with batteries? I had mavic 2 pro and all of my three batteries were swollen.

I do not think you going to get much info on them because the drone has not been out very long.

Good practice is to take them out as soon as your done flying and let them cool off.

Some suggest to stand them on end to cool off faster.

I have only had mine for a couple months and I notice if you turn on the landing light then everything gets really hot. Now I make sure I do not turn it on until it is really needed.

I have found that since the bottom of the is exposed if you set it on a say a car hood it sucks the heat right out of them I have since found a nice 18x5 plate of aluminum that is 3/8 thick and I set them on it as I fly them by the time the third is done the other two are cold.

All three of mine in the Combo kit came new with a very slight protruding bow on the bottom, where they tip slightly, rather than sitting completely flat on a flat surface. Does not bode well. The auto discharge to 96% within 24 hours and to 60% within 5 days, neither of which are user adjustable, tells me they know they still have a problem that they are fixing by throttling the battery charge. You also cannot top off a 96% battery to 100% without first independently bleeding it down to 95% by using the battery to charge a device! Losing 4% of the battery capacity, if it has been more than 24 hours since charging, means the 34 minute flight time is impossible to reach when traveling away from power.

Did you contact dji customer service?

What for? It's the new normal. No apparent additional swelling during use, but they definitely are not completely flat across the bottom, like the M2 batteries were initially. All the other changes to the battery capacity clearly indicate to me that swelling is now a known issue to be mitigated by throttling the battery, rather than eliminating swelling entirely. If it gets worse, I'll send them in under warranty within 6 months, but others have indicated their new MA2 batteries are the same as mine.

Good morning everyone,

Three weeks in and we have been following this suggestion about taking the batteries out of the drone and to get them to cool off; so far so good!

They are not cheap here in Canada, and we do not want to have to replace them if we don't have too...

All the best from the Yukon.
Thanks,

I only have sixty flights on my Air 2 with 20 charges on each of the three batteries. So far all is good. The AIr 2 and the batteries seem to run much cooler than the Air1 and the charging seems to be slower than the1. That's just an casual observance. I have never timed them. I'm down to one battery on my Mavic Air 1. One battery had a critical low battery landing. That battery had never showed a sign of possible failure and is as flat as a board on the bottom. It had 100 charges and 16 hr's total time. (it repeated that critical low battery landing on a low altitude hover flight) The second battery had slight swelling and split apart while charging @107 charges. The third battery has 102 charges and is showing slight puffing.
Lately I've been pulling the battery on all my drones after a flight and if possible setting them on a cool surface. Live and learn I guess.
I have 400 some odd flights on my Spark with three batteries and no problems at all. It's been in my car at 100 plus temps and I always kept the batteries at 100%. Go figure..

If you press on the bottom with your thumb you should be able to feel a slight gap before you actually press on the cells.

Today i unboxed my mavic air 2. This how my new battery looks like after 0 flights:
All of my three mavic air 2 batteries are swollen but this one the most. Is this joke? Should i already contact dji customer service?

It's likely just a bulge in the plastic. Press on the bottom with your thumb and you should be able to feel a gap before you press on the cells.

I sold my m2p cuz those amazing swollen batteries and now again this nightmare starting even when i dont flown single time ;)
What happend by the way? Not so long time there was common opinion that when battery is swollen then we should not flew with it cuz we can lost our drone or it can even explode. Now this is no problem with mavic air 2? I am wondering how my batteries will look like after 1 year when there is already so much bulge.

mine already has 50 charges, works like new :) but, the beginning I got 2-3 time battery insertion error...

I have had my Zoom for a couple years and all the original batteries have swollen. They have no vents like the Phantoms batteries so I’m convinced they will eventually all swell.
