In DJI Assistant 2 For Mavic Software I see a new Firmware for Mavic Air 2 release date 2020-11-10 with Version Number 01.00.0460.

Release Note:
- Added support so the remote controller can also be used with DJI Mini 2. It is recommended to use the remote controller with DJI Fly v1.2.0 or above.
- Updated default RTH altitude to 100 m.
- Optimized Downward Vision System by increasing the altitude limit to 30 m when the aircraft is only using Downward Vision System for positioning.
- Optimized logic for rotational speed of fan after powering on in order to reduce noise and power consumption.
- Optimized detection and app alert when propellers are unfolded.

No problem for me. Send it 475 meters high, getting around the town. From home at the window. I got some signal warnings but that was logical i think from the place i was flying.

No video disconnections really. Only one small when i got it very high and need to get out at the balcony 1-2 steps.

I am happy to report, that after updating all firmwares and fly app, that everything is operating optimally! Using Samsung Note 10 Plus. Mavic Air 2.

Current versions:
AC firmware: 1.00.0460
RC Firmware: 02.00.1101
Fly app vers: 1.2.0

"- Optimized Downward Vision System by increasing the altitude limit to 30 m when the aircraft is only using Downward Vision System for positioning."

Can anyone tell us what the limit was before, how this helps and how it affects flying over water? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why DJI claims this is a change, as I just took a look at the original manual (v1.0) that was available at launch, and even there the limit is described as up 30m when GPS is unavailable.

So I thought maybe since the bird got an update maybe 1.2.0 would match it and work properly. I was wrong. Now the feed in ANY mode not just 48MP is severely crippled. 5+ second lag then freeze. Android user. And at one point while swapping modes the app completely forced closed. Rolled back again to the previous version and haven't had the chance to fly it since.

Its looking like a process issue, if you have the RC firmware and now the new AC firmware, and they are all restarted, then perhaps re-install 1.2.0, it could start working for you? it seems like the hardware may need to be up to date before you get the app updated.. course this is all speculation on my part.. see how others fair.. if your problems persist, perhaps there is another problem..

Worst case, (maybe) re-install the firmware fresh from the DJI Assistant for Mavic, then try fresh app install and see how it goes...

This is going to be my course of action when I update this weekend (via DJI Assistant)...but I'm beginning to get worried that the app has some latent issues (and it's a pain to "roll back" the app--because I did it last weekend).

I updated the DJI Fly App a few days ago. Upgraded the firmware for the RC, MA2 and all batteries via the DJI Assistant. Everything went well except for 1 battery for would not update. I then used the phone and the dji fly app and the update went through without a problem on the third battery. DJI Assistant on a PC and Fly App on a Samsung S9+. Well test everything later today.

Edit: Took my MA2 for an hour today and all went well. Didn't have any hiccups whatsoever. I did noticed DJI changed the display from Tripod mode to C mode. And flying in C mode seems somewhat slower that before. Has anyone else notice this as well after firmware update?

Can I ask how people are rolling back the firmware. I recently got a new ish phone and I'm getting lag when recording video and it freezes for a few seconds. I'm thinking this must be because of the version that is installed on my phone?

Many thanks
Dave

It's either this thread or the other but someone posted a link to the old APK.

I reinstalled the 1.2 and it's still ruins the video both the feed and the actual capture on the MicroSD card... I uninstalled it and reinstalled the 1.1 version and it works perfectly... I have reached out to DJI and I have yet to get an answer after several days.... Because of a tropical storm I haven't been able to fly outside for any distance and I'm a little worried about doing it.....this is the first issue of any kind that I have had since owning my mini for the last three months and it is discouraging that the app still does not work and you have to really try hard to get the old version I would think DJI would have improved the problem by now

AC and RC firmware ca be rolled back with the DJI Assistant for Mavic.

If your phone is on IOS, your at that version till DJI releases another update. If an Android phone, there are ways to revert the app on the device after you delete it... Not familiar with that, though I am sure many here are..

It maybe just a matter (big maybe) of making sure all the latest firmware is installed or re-install with the Assistant, delete and re-install the IOS app, there is a lot of data saved by Fly on IOS, which you can see in the Files App if you are on a recent version of IOS. Perhaps some of that gets corrupted if the firmware on the hardware is out of date? A speculation on my part.

Actually you can rollback the iOS Fly app also. Watch the attached link:

im thinking this could be an android issue,i use an ipad mini 5th gen on my air 2 and even out to 6km no breakup at all,i have a samsung s9+ but not really tried it on that ,i have read and seen a few screen break ups only on android tbh. have you got an apple device maybe you could try off a friend or relative,i am no apple fanboy i hate them tbh but they just work with the dji software flawless. just my findings.

That is a pretty interesting procedure and quite painless it appears.. I am aware that you can load apps if the dev provides a means to install them and then of course, you have to make sure its trusted or it won't run.

It does appear that this is a great workaround for those wanting to revert on IOS to 1.1.1.0, it does seem like some people are getting 1.2.0 to work, though its not clear what actually happened to let it work, or whether it will continue to . DJI does need to release a new update that resolves these relatively obvious issues, they must be getting inundated with service requests.

DJI Fly App 1.2.1 is available in the Play Store

It seems that this version fixes some connectivity issues.
