M2P controller only charging to 97% and no further.

This anomaly has just happened today and I've had the unit for over 2 years. Anyone else had this happen? Thanks
Mine has done the same thing. Seems it’s due to cycles and age on the battery in the controller. I have not found it to be a problem.

I did buy a couple of controllers in near new condition as backups. If it becomes a problem I’ll just pair one of those with my M2P.

Mine did that, but topping it off a couple times got it to fully charge. However as was stated, 97% isn't a problem. The only caution I would make is not to leave it on charge too long if it remains in charging state with no increase in charge level.

When the battery “thinks” it is fully charged the DJI chargers will quit.

Thank you for your observations. I appreciate it.

I have noticed that it sometimes depends on the charger.
For what the info is worth, I usually charge mine with a USB ammeter in line and that when the display controller's display indicates 100% the ammeter is still passing reasonable current. I leave it charging until the controller's display switches off at which time the current through the ammeter drops to zero.

Same with me but when I charge from a small external phone battery charger it goes to 100%.As an aside I plug the controller into the external battery charger when flying and it stays above 90% for the equivalent of 11 M2P batteries.I have 7 drone batteries and a Smahtree external battery pack that will charge about 4 drone batteries from 22% or so to full.

Interesting ... I dont have the chance to see it because I typically stop charging at 80% or lower. My target has been to get it to 30 ~ 50% at the end of the day. From what I have read, that will maximize the life of the battery.

That's not much of a requirement for the controller. If it were, DJI would make accommodations or at least warn about discharging to 60% like they do for the AC batteries. Do avoid storing/transporting them in high heat locations for longer life, but there hasn't been many reports about controller battery issues.

Update: my charging of my M2 controller stopped at 99% after which it shut off the display. Trying to charge again for possible top off turned off seconds from start. I use the cable attached to the side of the stock AC charger to charge the controller.

That's not essential requirement but recommended practice for maximizing the longevity of lithium-based batteries. How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries - Battery University

Normal expected behavior.

Mine stops at 95%, but I only have it as a backup since I use SC 99% of the time, so no problem.

I doubt if it has anything to do with the # of cycles because SCCooper reported in his post above that his rarely-used controller has the same issue.
Interesting.... mine only stated this within the last couple of weeks after well over a year’s use and hundreds of flights on each.
