My wife bought a landing pad for me for Father's Day. Never really thought about utilizing one until I received one. The pad is Blue on one side and Orange on the other side. Any specific reason for two different colors?

is it the type that twists open and has pegs to hold it from blowing away ,i only ask because a good way to keep it from blowing away, is to attach ledgering weights to the loops where the pegs are supposed to go, it still folds up and you can use it on any surface

OMM, I like that idea but do you know if the weights might affect the compass. I'm guessing they're lead-free but are they metallic?

Soft dive weights (small nylon mesh bags filled with lead shot) also work very well...We use a cutting mat that has lines and is rigid and it seems to work well.

It does work good, you mentioned it in another post and I tried it. Bought some fishing lead anchors from Walmart. Works Great!!

I have the same pad (foldable, blue and orange) and I’ve honestly have never really thought about which side to use. Been almost a year with mine and after many, many flights I have never had the need to stake it down. its never moved for me.

I have the same type of pad. Great idea about using weight. I had to buy more stakes since some broke and got lost.

I have one of those pads. I really don't see a need to use it once you learn to land the drone in your hand! On the other hand, it is useful for launching off of a grassy surface that would interferce with the propellers.

The colors are purely to enhance contrast. It’s helpful to the Pilot too as you may be manually landing and negotiating obstacles on the way down. Very easy to distinguish the LZ from 200’.

I could not find ledgering weights so I used over sized washers and was happy that it did fold back up and fits in that bag.

A car floor mat also makes a handy launch pad. They are stiff enough that no extra weight or stakes are required. Not fold-able, but if the car is close it works.
