I disagree, coming down hard on stuff like this is a complete overreach. I haven't watched any of his stuff but that amount of money for this even stacked upon is a failure of the way they police this.
By his own admission, the FAA has been sending him letters every month for a year. Apparently, he didn't get the message.

I've only seen a few of his videos but each one was BVLOS.

He should get fined... but the government fining that amount is a travesty. I am not saying he did anything right.. but the fact that they let it get to that like that.. is ridiculous.... on both of them.

That's what I thought. $1,500 for the first one, and then another 122 after that.

Lol, I am probably in the minority... I just don't think the government should be applauded for this.. Despite him being dumb as a rock.
 
I have spoken with the FAA several times and I can tell you that they are not really out to get anyone, but that they do have an agenda to get people to get there 107 so they can fly stress free.

Had this guy just responded to the Warning Letter , he might not have gotten any infractions at all.

There first and only concern was he was flying within a 5 mile distance next to the Air Port with all most all of his flights.

Despite this Negative in his life, he weighed 600 pounds , was on heroin for 20 years and the drone for what ever reason saved his life by getting him to loose weight and get off drugs . He likely never gave those warnings a second thought.

I have called the FAA several times in regards to personal questions and clarifications of rules and I have spoken about the conversations i have had with the FAA in the Forum.

The Conversations end with the FAA Specialist saying words like that is a slippery slope and end with best for everyone to get there 107 so they can fly without issue.

I don't know what your beef with me is, but you're well out of order.
He made a comment to which I made a relevant comment.
That's how discussion works.
Contributing to discussion is not "bashing another member" (but your post is drifting into that territory).
Perhaps you could make a relevant comment and tell us about how you are/aren't aware of the FAA having an agenda to get people to get their 107, something for which there is no evidence.

I say he got what he deserved, by ignoring all the warnings/citations! This should happen to people that think they are above the law and rules don't apply to them. Its not about drones, its about how he goes about things.

No. The FAA most definitely doesn't have an agenda to get everyone to have their 107. I don't know who you've been talking to (the 800 number doesn't count), but they would not be putting so much effort to 44809 rules if they wanted everyone to have their Remote Pilot Certificate.

100% agree with you there. If he had responded at first, there isn't a single person in the U.S. that would have found out about him.

The FAA doesn't care about the 5 mile aspect of the drone flights. There is no 5 mile rule. It's all about airspace classification, not distance to the airport.

And of the few flights I've checked out, it's in a 400' grid. But I have no doubt there are some in other grids. He lives in a 400' grid.

His poor choices in life have nothing to do with his current poor choice of not responding to the FAA.


The guy is abrasive and refuses to take responsibility for his actions. I've spoken with Dobo and one other person who has spoken directly with Mickey. I've tried to get the message to him to just put out an apologetic video and things would go better for him.

And I let Haye know my thoughts about the call for support links in his story. I think Haye made a mistake putting them in there.

You are correct Mikey said he just didn’t know about the laanc system, If he would’ve registered each flight it might’ve been a little easier on him
