Well I did a dumb thing and unfortunately I landed my MA2 at the bottom of the Harbor. It was all my fault! It was relatively new but what I am asking is if I buy another do I have to buy the Fly More package or can the insurance from my first one be transferred to the new one? What are my options? An expensive lesson.

A "Fly More package" is not any kind of insurance. So using correct terms do you have DJI Care Refresh? You would need to contact DJI and explain the situation. They can confirm if the program is transferable to your replacement aircraft.

Well my apologies! I guess I meant the "DJI Care Refresh" program. Since it came with the Fly More Package I assumed they were one and the same! Anyway thanks for your suggestion!

I would assume it is transferrable since they market it as "x number of $" for the first one and then "y number of $" for the second one.

Yes you can transfer to another drone, you just have to let DJI agents no so they can change it on there end.
Im not sure how many times they let you do that.

Something you may consider is getting the Air 2 Rescue Jacket which would allow you to recover your drone and land on water and take off.

Its easy to shake off one drone but you will feel terrible if you loose 2.
The Rescue Jackets also provide 3000 ft visual line of sight which is a huge plus when starting out.

If the original aircraft is not recoverable at the bottom of the Harbor, the DJI Care Refresh policy ends with the original drone. Transferability only applies to covered losses, which require recovery of the insured aircraft. If he voluntarily buys another drone, he would need to purchase a new DJI Care Refresh policy for it.

FWIW, I got these foam pontoons because I intend to fly at our lake house, and I KNOW that sooner or later, I would crash into the water. I haven’t tested them out yet, but the videos look great. This combo also comes with a separate snap on set of “skis” to act as landing gear extensions.

The pontoon bracket also comes with a GoPro camera mount. $35 on Amazon. You can get just the pontoons for less. If you can recover a floater after a water crash, at least you have dead body to send back to DJI for replacement.

They might be cheaper but why get something that will tip over? Yes you will be able to get back the drone and maybe dry out to use again or return but what a price to pay. I have watched the videos on this product and was close to buying it myself but want to have the freedom to be able to land and takes off from the water. All it take is one wave to knock the drone over because it setting to high on the "toons." Here is a picture of the one I am using and compare with the other one to see which one has a lower center of gravity.

You can land and take off from water with either one. That's why I got it.

Let me know how it works for you when you land on the lake when it has some waves.

Oh by the way I also have on the wet suit so if it gets splashed, the water will not get into the battery compartment.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Care Refresh only works if you can provide the drone with serial # REGISTERED to Care Refresh.
Care Refresh is a separate purchase....it is not part of any other purchase.
As for water events get yourself educated prior to making a purchase for any add-on devices. Check out drone- retriever. com for some insight.

I‘ll be taking off and landing in shore primarily. no Reason to get my feet wet. The floats are a life jacket if an emergency like the OP had. Wet suit is a good idea.

Here’s a good video. Like this guy, I’d skip the GoPro...who needs it? Makes her too top heavy.

The one with the “toons” doesn’t float much higher than the flat one, and with rounded shape, may affect air flow less, as well as less “kite” effect from the wind. If I feel it’s floating too high, I’ll just cut an equal amount off each side to reduce floatation. The floats are standard Kid’s pool toy stuff. Anything that floats can be turned over. Overriding reason: A floating drone is a recoverable drone.

Sorry about you losing your drone. WE all make mistakes, when learning.
Just curious as to what happened, could help sone body else avoid doing the same thing. I have pontoons on my MP's as well, but I don't mess around with water landings. Only for veteran pilots, you never want to get a drop of water inside the battery compartment. Have never heard of a EMERGENCY landing on water going well. Usually, only thing worth saving is the body, and especially if salt water gets inside with the electronics.
I was practicing, with water puddles after a rain, and that made me nervous. I just have them for back up, so it floats, and send the other one to retrieve out of the water.

Let me give you a direct reply to your question: Yes. To transfer the remaining time on the agreement to your new aircraft, just write to [email protected] and give them the existing Care Refresh agreement number and the serial number of the new aircraft.

I know this, unfortunately, due to a similar drowning death of my first Mavic Air 2.

I'd note that it's worth it to do this for relatively new models that have not run out most of their year's worth of Refresh coverage, but if you're close to the end of the year, it might be better to get a new agreement.

Shame you are on the other coast of FL or I would go retrieve it so you could use care refresh. I would try making a couple posts on social media looking for SCUBA folks since you should have a pretty good idea of where it is resting in the harbor from the log on the phone.

LOL thanks but I have no clue where to ask them to look! We turned around and looked hoping it would float for just a bit but no sign! Sigh!!! Lesson Learned!
