The new update to DJI Fly is awesome and very welcomed. However, did some of us get a sneak peek at what is coming in the future to the Mavic Air 2?

Confused.

Can you elaborate?

Edit: watched parts of the video but got bored. Will wait for other to chime in. (Can you add the timestamp for the extra features?)

I'm guessing he is referencing this firmware update: Firmware V01.00.0309
Oh. Got it.

I think that stuff is weird.

Why would you allow a drone with no sides sensors to fly around something instead of over?
...
Then give the option to not fly left or right.

...strange...

Apparently you left the video in the first 3 minutes, because you would have seen where to find the soon to come features.

yup. sure did...

actually, watched about 30 seconds, maybe 20, skipped by 10 seconds until i thought i went too far... then i was over it... post #3 helped.

So Air Photography's experience was different than Russ's as he got a firmware update that none of the rest of us got, days before getting the 1.1.6 app update. Thats why he's seeing weird features, and I have to agree, the one where you cant turn is rather odd. Currently my APAS seems to operate in avoid mode, not brake, so perhaps having that option might work for some.

A bit of yaw and gimbal control is not going to change much, it should have been there from the release

By the way the yaw control is not available on the Mavic Mini, pitch speed and pitch smoothness was already there

I agree. I am more interested in some braking features for forward and backward movement, like the Cinematic mode in the M2 series. Much smoother. I've become pretty smooth on the left stick, the new settings will enhance that a little more, the battery indicator is a step in the right direction, but why didnt they do the same for the Sat/Signal Strength metrics too? White on cloud or sunny blue sky just seems like nobody at DJI actually flew the thing outdoors... <scratches head!>

On the Mavic Mini , the transmission channel mode still defaults to "manual" on start-up which I think is a big issue.
Some unsuspecting pilots might take off with less than optimal channel selection if it is in manual mode and set to a previously used channel which now may have interference.

It's more logical to have it default to "auto".
There's even a warning on the transmission menu screen "Use Manual mode carefully. Select a channel with less interference"
I don't understand the rational behind this manual default, especially in a beginner drone ?

There are a few other things who's settings are not perpetual, like turning off RemoteID, albeit it allegedly does nothing right now, why even have it there.

Rule of thumb - check every setting everytime there is any kind of update. Flyer beware!

Turning off the Remote ID "sticks" for me, at least using the Android version of DJI Fly. Also, it currently controls the information AeroScope users see, so it is functional today. This feature has nothing to do with the proposed FAA Remote ID rule, at least at this moment.

Tried checking to see if updates were available for me - unfortunatley, when I try to update it says most recent firmware installed and none of the new features are listed. (Fly ap is still .15 and firmware is still the one released back in June.

Any ideas on how long DJI takes to release new firmware across all markets ? Is it a matter of a week or two or longer?

Are you using android or ios? Its not available on android yet. If using ios, find app in app store, touch and hold logo momentarily, the option to update will appear. Hope this helps.

The feature where you can't fly sideways is because there are no side sensors, allowing beginners (or others) to only fly in directions that are sensors

APAS is "Avoid" Currently, there are 2 different settings (that are confusing to some). Obstacle Avoidance and APAS. Avoidance brakes, APAS goes around. You can turn APAS off and leave Avoidance on if you want. It's odd to have to turn both on though, as opposed to just APAS, and the "new" way of doing it, (just a none, brake, avoid) is simpler way of choosing between OA, APAS, and all off. Same thing as today, just different words and a more simplified/clarified setting.

Sorry, but what are you on about? DJI Fly app 1.1.6 is available for most (but not all yet) on both iOS & Android. The FW update for the MA2 is not available for ANYBODY at the moment, apart from the individual that posted the video in which it was referenced to (and has caused all this confusion!)

The 1.1.6 is not available on my android phone yet is what I am referencing. It is available on my iPad however. I don’t want to confuse anyone. The above firmware update is not available on either of my devices.

The confusion comes from your statement that “1.1.6 is not available on Android”... it may not be for you, but there are plenty of others on here that have it on Android (have a look at some of the other threads on this subject). In fact, it first showed itself as an Android download, about a week before iOS.

Tony McDrone was Right, because I've been trying to see if I could get the Update to my MA2, with no Joy. But I tried the App Store thing on DJI Fly App for iOS, and wala, I got the App update with the new colorful Battery Charge Indicator. On Battery Info on the App, it now shows the individual Battery Cell Status, Tempo, etc...A LITTLE MORE INFO. And finaly in ABOUT... it shows the App Version as 1.1.6
But Aircraft Firmware is still 01.00.0250 and no further updates available at this time, and FlySafe Database is still 01.00.01.18 at this time. HOPE THIS HELPS CLEAR UP THE POINT THAT I HAVE FOUND, AS TO WHAT'S GOING ON.
Any idea from anyone on this POST, know when this will also take place?
