Sugar coat it as much as you want, this is not good news. We know it's coming, but it's never fun to see when steps are taken.

Yea, looks like a storm is a brewin'. I certainly picked the wrong time to join in this hobby.
On the other side of it though, I'll be waiting for that person who comes up with a mod that will allow sidestepping all this remote ID thing.

A drone is limited in how far it can fly and with added weight for delivery even less distance. For Amazon to start drone deliveries Amazon would need human interaction to attach the package to the drone and a distribution center from where to fly the drone. It is a nice thought, but I doubt if it will ever be implemented. Most packages from Amazon that are less than 5 lbs. are just stuff that can wait for USPS except maybe medicine. Then you have the problem of keeping track of the drones and trying to find them when they crash (bird strike, etc.).

Total hogwash.

The hobby industry, and the commercial 107 industry, aren't going anywhere just because another Part 135 operation was approved.

Fear mongering isn't going to help either. It just stokes more resentment for the FAA. And if anything is going to hurt either industry, it's going to be folks not following any new rules that come out because they disrespect the FAA.

People need to educate themselves, and that includes Russ. He has a good channel, but it seems he likes to over exaggerate the outcomes of many things. And he's always predicting the end of the hobby.

It's just not true.

Jeff has lots of visions. His problem is, he has more money than he knows what to do with and employees that will pursue whatever vision pops into his head. Probably after about the tenth full blown lawsuit for one of his visions clipping the family dog, the landscape guy doing the lawn, and the kid throwing the newspaper, his eyesight may improve.

I get at least 2 to 4 packages a week from Amazon. Most over 10 lbs. Also, my closes D.C. is 45 miles to the south of me one way.
Right now I get most of my stuff through the "Prime" truck the next day after I order it.
Also, they would not be able to deliver in big cities as too much
commercial & Company air traffic coming & going from airports.

They "might" try light packages in a range of 5+ miles from a D.C. as that is actually 10 miles round trip.

Here in Indiana where it's so flat, the wind would also be another factor.
Lots of days we have winds over 25 to 30 mph so no drone flying for me.

Thank you for your input. This topic is already going in this thread:

Again thank you for your contribution to the forum but this is just house-cleaning.
